Oh yeah, you read me. If the Christmas spirit won’t come to me, I have to drag it in. Somehow. So that’s what I’m doing. At least trying to. And now I’ve done about everything. I’ve been listening to Christmas music, eating Christmas snacks, drinking hot chocolate, buying Christmas presents, knitting, watching Christmas movies… I’ve even made my bed in my “Christmas sheets” (red silk) and put in my “Christmas pyjama”! So now it’s only one more thing I can do… It’s time to bring out “The Big Christmas Book”. That’s right. An entire book about Christmas. It’s so cozy and Christmasy. I hope it can help. Cross your fingers!

CHRISTMAS EFFORTS RIGHT NOW:

But got to go, have to take a look at the book :) I also have to cover up the last gifts in Christmas paper, AND knit more on my cousin’s scarf (have to be finished by Christmas Eve).

The Year Without A Santa Claus December 21, 2008

Oh my God! Are you kidding me!? :D I just (by mistake actually) came over the song “heat/cold mister” from “the Year Without A Santa Claus”! That’s like my favorite song in that movie. Which by the way was one of my favorite Christmas movies too. I had it on VHS. And I totally forgot about it!!! I don’t know how I came across it, that was SO wierd! It was on Youtube. Wait, I can check… (Checking it out)… Uhm.. OK, now I know. Hm.. This will be a wierd explaination.. (If you don’t care, then don’t read the following part).

We have guests over for dinner today. They’re still here, so it’s not just dinner, but they’re family and such so… Anyways! They’re still sitting around the table and talking (as usual), but I think that’s boring, so I’m in my room now. But they were discussing old TV shows. And both my mom, dad, and a guy named Bjørn, came in to my room and asked me if I could google something for them about the shows (when they started, for instance). And the last one was a show called “High Chaparral” (an old western show, btw). And Bjørn wondered if I could get some of the soundtracks to it, because he’s been looking for it for a while, and it’s apparently very hard to get. So I youtubed it, so I could at least know how it sounded like, and I clicked on the first link where it was this man called “Ai Caiola” and it was a picture of his CD cover. “Ai Caiola plays High Chaparral and other western themes”. So he played “other western themes” after the “High Chaparral” songs. (OK, this is probably boring by now, but it has an end to it, I promise!) When the Johnny Cash song “Ring of Fire” came, the video changed picture to a other CD cover. And on the back of that cover (I’m close now!!) there were other song titles, for instance a song called “Cold, Cold Heart”, and that made we want to write a song that could be “Cold, Cold Heat”. Cause I liked the sound of that. So I youtubed a little more to check if it already was a famous song with that name. But it wasn’t (yay!), but there it was! “Heat & Cold Miser”. And I was like “what!?”, so I clicked on it. And I read the “more info” where it stood which movie it was from. And I had a total flashback! So then I youtubed “the Year Without A Santa Claus part 1″ and here I am. But now I’m going to watch it! Yay, yay, yay! :D I looove it <3

Little, fat Christmas tree December 18, 2008

I decorated the Christmas tree today. We used to have the tradition of decorating the day before Christmas eve (December 23th), but I think that’s too late. So I kind of changed that tradition two years ago :) We’re not the whole family anymore anyway, so the whole “let’s gather the family and have a great time while decorating the Christmas tree”-thing is pretty much left behind. It’s sad though, because it was a nice tradition… But oh well.

The thing I actually wanted to show you though, was pictures of this year’s Christmas tree! Hahaha, it’s so little and round. Like a fat tree. It’s kind of cute, though :)

O Christmas spirit, where art Thou? December 13, 2008

Yes, I love the Christmas, but no, I’m not feeling it. Where the heck is my Christmas spirit? Today it’s December 13th. That’s the Lucia day. And you know what? I forgot! I totally forgot. I figured it out for like an hour ago. That’s not how it’s supposed to be. Nothing is how it’s supposed to be. I use to love the Christmas. And now it’s only a week left of school before the holidays, and I haven’t really faced that yet. It’s like I’m not looking forward to it anymore. And that’s so sad, because Christmas used to be so much fun.

I guess it’s partly my own fault for not letting it in. I mean, I haven’t even watched a single episode of any Christmas TV-show yet. Not even “Blåfjell”! That used to be my favorite show. I even had a “Blåfjell”-birthday.
I’m just so disappointed in myself. I’ve got the snow, I’ve got the Christmas-lights in the streets and the Christmas decorations all over the mall. I’ve baked ginger snaps, drinked Christmas/red soda, eaten porridge and lisnened to Christmas music. But I don’t feel it! Ough, I hate this! I want to feel the Christmas spirit again!

And there’s one thing that really upsets me. And it’s not about me or my efforts. It’s about the media. For instance, TV. I remember that the different TV channels used to show Christmas movies before Christmas eve. But now they only show them AFTER Christmas eve. In that week between Christmas eve and New Years eve (I don’t know if there is a special name for that in English). They show “Home Alone” and all these other really cozy Christmas-spirit-making-movies. AFTER CHRISTMAS. But that’s too late! I want the spirit BEFORE Christmas. Because Christmas eve is supposed to be day in Christmas you look forward to. The highlight. And I don’t want the Christmas spirit after Christmas. Because when I get the spirit, I want Christmas, you know? So it’s kind of mean. Because after Christmas eve, it’s a whole year to the next one. Soo.. Thanks. Really. And, where the heck did the Coca Cola-commercial go!?
